Artist Statement

Seeing is an act of intimacy. I don’t photograph people or events from a distance; I work up close and personal. Joy arrives when I capture the essence of a moment or reveal beauty that elevates the unseen and the ordinary. True beauty emerges when I go beyond the tyranny of the obvious and uncover the core of a person, a situation, or an experience.
When I photograph people, something reciprocal happens. As individuals grow comfortable and confident, my intuition sharpens. The connection deepens, allowing their inner beauty, their higher self to emerge.
Flowers teach me another kind of intimacy. I stop when wonder calls. I look closely, and the world becomes personal. In that I–Thou relationship, hidden beauty rises — not perfect beauty, but the beauty of life aging, unfolding, revealing itself.
